Nerf Epic Pranks - One Step Forward, Two Steps Back

Nerf Epic Pranks: One Step Forward, Two Back

Since its release, the Nerf Epic Pranks app has seen millions of downloads. Granted, its a game that can at least hold your attention for a limited time, butit released with a lack of replay value after completing all the levels.

As of a recent update, that issue has been somewhat mitigated. However, there was also another, far more annoying change in the game: the addition of a subscription model. The benefits don’t seem to be that great. Let’s take a look at some of the benefits.

BECOME A VIP! PAY FOR IT!

First, the most notable change is the starting screen. The app will load and advertise the VIP subscription. You can do a three day free trial, but after that, you automatically start the weekly option. There are also monthly and yearly options. You will get an exclusive character and emote. There will also be a higher payout per day for coins. The Titan was also available for purchase. These two options are still available.

Note that new downloads may have slightly different menus. I can see Coming Soon slots to get later updates. However, on a new device blasters/characters/emotes were arranged in a different way, so there are no empty slots.

If you already pay the small fee for Titans or no ads, then there is no reason to upgrade to the VIP package. You will already have more coins than you normally earn in a short time, based on the normal rate at which you typically earn them. The VIP blaster isnt any stronger than the Titan or the later blasters you can work up to, for that matter. Do the character and emote really make a difference? This just seems like its tempting kids to hit the purchase button on their phone (or their parents phones) to spend money. It could cost a lot. It is not worth the cost. It’s not a new thing to buy cosmetic skins or other items.

For a single-player game, you’re not even showing off to other players. Come on

Gameplay ImprovesA Bit

Replay value is another issue that has been addressed. Originally, you cycled through missions again after completing them all. You can still do this, but bullet sponges are becoming more common. There will be people with boosted hit points, and its not uncommon to see 60, 80, or sometimes even 100 HP targets. People who look around for you to chase you away will look faster and be more focused on you when they see you. There is less room for error. It’s not difficult.

Redo The Review?

Ill have to amend the earlier review to reflect the additions, but Im still leaning towards not worrying about the game. At most, the increased difficulty just results in you taking longer to finish an easy mission (although people spotting you faster was a good idea). However, being that this is a single-player game, the subscription just doesnt add anything of real value, since you can already earn things at a fast pace anyway. And its not like you can slow down the current rate of earning upgrades without REALLY annoying people. Don’t worry about buying if you are just going to play for fun. And make sure the kids dont buy it for you.
